Was out looking for nuptials today, found quite a few of these ladies around. Got a decent sized one in a tube and brought it home for ident. I know where the nest is, now time to find out what these are.
She's very tenacious, biting the pyrex tube and the cotton blocker, based on her size (little over 1/2", almost 9/16") and tenacity I'm guessing Camponotus, possibly Camponotus Castaneus, however I would definitely like a second opinion. I'm VERY new when it comes to identifying species.

Re: Species ID (Camponotus?)
They arnt queens, if you look up camponotus castaneus queens they look much different. The ants you caught look like workers to me. If im wrong anyone else can correct me.

Re: Species ID (Camponotus?)
This is a Camponotus (possibly) castaneus worker. It is definitely not a queen, but keep on searchingphoenixmastm wrote: ↑Tue Apr 23, 2019 7:11 pmWas out looking for nuptials today, found quite a few of these ladies around.
