Ant Identification? Is this even a queen?

I'm very very new to the ant keeping scene and I found this ant by chance on my back porch, and got very excited! But I'm not sure if I've found a queen or a male alate, or even the species! If anyone could help me out here I'd really appreciate it! I'm in NC right now if that helps with identification!

I don't live in NYC so I don't know any of the species there.
But, it does look like a drone to me.
I would post it on formiculture.com to get an id from someone who actually lives there.
Good luck with finding some queens!

Good way to see if it is a drone is if it can still fly.
After the queens mate they shed their wings (not always but most of the time).
Even if they don't shed their wings they can no longer fly.
