Went for a walk April 9th really looking for some camponotus. But it seem they are not quite flying yet here. I rolled over a few logs and did find a few ladies tho.

These 3 were found in a small dirt hollow under a log. All in the same chamber. There were no eggs larva or pupae present but some patches of the ground nearby were still frozen. Me guess is Lasius neoniger. What do you think ? Can I keep them together ? They were under the same rock in the same spot. Also 8mm long

These next photos are not so good. I got a USB microscope but the software is crap and it kept freezing. So I took the pics with my phone while manually focusing. Found near by the above catch in a much more rotten log. Found 3 queens and 8 workers 1 larva. No eggs or pupae. The are a red ish with brown shiny butts. Queens are 6-7 mm but relatively skinny. Workers are 4-5 mm and they seem quite aggressive. I'm thinking they are a year old as I'd guess they did not hatch these nanatics this spring already. Single larva could be from last year?
I have no idea what these gals are.

The first ant queen is most likely a parasitic Lasius queen. Not sure about the others.

updated photos of the second colony found in the log 3 queens.

Got my microscope working better and managed to get these shots while the one queen laid an egg.
