Completely new to this...
and I know that the photos aren't particularly great, but I hope that they're enough. I've been using the keys and guides I've found online as much possible.
Ant was 5-6mm in length, I'm in the East of the Yucatan peninsula to the South of Cancun.
As the title says I'm wondering if this is Camponotus planatus, or if I'm way off base.
Any advice as to ID resources would be great.
Thanks in advance

Definitely not off base. I would say that you are correct.

Re: Camponotus planatus?
Well see that's interesting, because Antwiki says C. planatus has small colonies and is exquisitely arboreal. This colony I'm pretty sure is living in my wall (concrete) and has a good thousand workers (I don't know if that's 'small' I know that some species can number up to the millions per colony) that generally traipse all over my house looking for stuff to eat....
I might have to try and see if they're getting into the wall from somewhere else...I'm also pretty sure they were living under my living room floor tiles until I started lifting them a couple of weeks ago for some much needed maintenance.

First of all, Those are great pictures! Better than most and i would say it looks like camponotus planatus, even if it is not it should be ok since most camponotus have the same care.
