Hello everyone!
I live in Queensland, Australia, and have spent the morning researching ant species but can come to no conclusion. The morning that this post is going up I saw these small yellow-orange ants in great number in my vegetable garden (tomatoes and lettuce). I also saw one with the exact same colouring but slightly larger with a very big head and mandibles. Unfortunately it seems that my dog recently hid some sweet food in the garden and this may have prompted their arrival, but I am not sure, as they seem reasonably settled in. I do not see much more than black ants, green ants, and the giant sugar ants but there are certain invasive species of concern in small pockets in Australia. There is no soil of great quality in my yard except for the garden, so they may have come in the garden mix. I have attached all the photos I have taken, and apologise in advance for their quality. Thank you in advance for any information.
