Hi Tomurai!
I saw your last post, so I came here to try to help. :)

I'm not an expert, but I've done some research and I've found some similarities with "Rhytidoponera Metallica" in Australia.

Here are some details I've found:
- They are very common in Australia (and they're also present in your region).
- Size: 5 to 7 mm
- Nuptial Flight: September (you may have caught her during a late flight)
- Rhytidoponera Metallica has a green-blue coloration (it's indeed also called Green-Head Ant).

I'll post even some picture of how they look so you can compare them and give your thoughts.

Thank you so much StigmaticSpark4! That's an excellent start and hopefully others can chime in and confirm whether that is indeed the species. I'll admit they do look very similar! I can't tell whether mine has a blue/green tint however. I have 2 which have both laid eggs now so I'm loathe to submit them to bright lights lest I stress them out too much!

No problem, glad to be helpful! :D

I also couldn't tell about the tint very well since the test tube may have toned it down a bit it in the photo, and yes, there's no need now to stress them. When the nanitics will hatch I guess that will be a good opportunity to also compare how they look (the workers).

Tomurai, Where do you live? If you're in Australia then it's probably this spp.

I don't think you noticed, but he wrote this at the end of the first post:

It's all good though. ;)
