Good Evening,
Last days Lisbon outskirts was "invaded" by this ants all over the walls and cars at really huge numbers. (weather related i know)
I'm curious about the species
They are above the 1 cm probably around 1.2mm they spent all day in walls without moving but got all stressed like flyes when i caught them.
they are kind of similar to my camponotus colony males (i can see some in the nest) but bigger in wings and legs
pictures: (all from the same ant)

Re: Portugal-Lisbon 15-10, probably male
Hello!
I also saw those ants in the exact same day in Pero Pinheiro (also on the Lisbon outskirts).
I am just a begginer here and I'm not sure at all but I believe they are males of the messor genus, I also saw many queens (not nearly as many as the males) and caught some.
Now I have them in test tube set ups.
Soon I'll post the pics here.

I was assuming that the ants you saw and the ones I saw could be from the same genus, because they are about the same size (the male ones) and had their nuptial flights in the same day, also near Lisbon, but i guess many different ant species and genus could be flying in the same day.
I already posted the pics of the queens i found in that same day. Did you also found any queen or you just saw the males?
