Queen Ant identification, polygynous or not?
I caught lots of queens in Montpellier (south of France) on 13/10/18 at about 12:00. They are about 10mm long and are mostly black with heads that are dark reddish brown. From the ant trails i've seen i think they are polymorphic with huge majors 10mm with reddish heads and workers from 2mm to 5mm I would like to know if they are a polyganous species and if i can put them together and when. I have some pics but the quality isn’t great.

I believe they are Messor barbarus, who are not polygynous.BnBrsHavoc wrote: ↑Sat Oct 13, 2018 8:27 amQueen Ant identification, polygynous or not?

Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?
There are so many fascinating ants right where you live!
I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that aren't in your area.
