Ant Identification request - South Chilean ants

Greetings AC family!

I'd like your help identifing the following ants

Here's a picture



They're around 4mm long, I found them on the national park of Pali Aike, Chile. They're feasting on a piece of cookie I gave em.

You see, ants don't live in cities here at Magallanes and we have very little research of them. Most people still believe we're ants-free at this region. In fact, this is the first time in my life that I find ants this far south, I thought they couldn't survive the cold and the snow, but some minutes later after the video it started to snow and the ants didn't mind! They kept foraging at the piece of cookies I gave them, I was impressed.

Also, if it's possible, could you provide some knowledge on when their nuptial flight might be? I'd like to try raising a colony of them in the future and show them to the people.

Have any idea of when Dorymyrmex sp. hold their nuptial flights?

Looks like Dorymyrmex pappodes to me. Also, nuptial flights depend on species in Dorymyrmex, for a lot of species are scattered around the year. I hardly have any info on Dorymyrmex pappodes, just some pictures on AntWeb.

I wouldn't think the care of any Dorymyrmex species would be very different. Just follow the care on some of the more commonly kept species, such as Dorymyrmex bicolor.
