Smallest queen ive ever seen 4 mm Ontario 6:30 pm
so like the title says smallest queen ive seen its so small I could barely get these pics in the daylight with an extra led light trying to brighten her.
I don't think its a Lasius. sp but my eyes aren't good enough.. hopefully tonight ill set up a lighting area for closer pics.

Okay so seeing her again I can confirm she is 100% not lasius. The antenna curve is completely wrong.

Can you possibly get any pics of the petiole?

That makes me so happy that I was right about the genus again the eyes aren't so great. However im curious what makes it depilis? I'm amazed the quality was good enough for an accurate ID
Oops depilis - without hair

B. depilis is the only species from the genus which lives that far north.MorbidBugg wrote: ↑Sun Sep 16, 2018 9:19 pmThat makes me so happy that I was right about the genus again the eyes aren't so great. And there's my new fact for the day learned. It also appears upon first search there's not much reading on brachymyrmex besides subterranean and likes 'underground bugs' I'm not sure if that's a technical term but I'm assuming fruit flies should be accepted. Also if you could point me in a general direction for info that would be appreciated... not necessary but appreciated lolBatspiderfish wrote: ↑Sun Sep 16, 2018 9:28 pmB. depilis is the only species from the genus which lives that far north.MorbidBugg wrote: ↑Sun Sep 16, 2018 9:19 pmThat makes me so happy that I was right about the genus again the eyes aren't so great. On a another note. I find it odd that I found a queen weren't their nuptials between may and July?
