Very interesting. I guess this is not an easy way to get started in ants though. Best course is just to go ahead and release it back?

I have posted 9 more photos (higher quality, I think, taken in daylight) at the link, which still has the old ones:

Does it look definitively like a Lasius umbratus? If so I will release it. (Notice that it has since lost one wing.)

Obviously, if it's not a social parasite, I'm interested in keeping it to try to start a colony.
