Hi, I live in fountain Hills AZ and I found an ant colony outside and I wanted to figure out what species it is. My camera is kinda bad but I’d like to see if anyone can do it. I tried to look up what ants they could be but didn’t get anything to match exactly. They are about 2-3 millimeters and a red and yellow color.https://www.deviantart.com/terracrafter567

looks an awful lot like my Forelius ants "sun ants" but without a closee picture I would say it is also likely a Dorymyrmex "pyramid ant" (or possibly something completely different but i doubt it)

check out my journal on these guys for so neat pictures a stories. as well as the arduous task of differing the two generas.
its under 'ant sciences: vlogs and journals : "Forelius pruinosis, my dream species"

Founding:
3 Solenopsis I/X
5 Tapinoma sessile
1 Nylanderia terricola/vivulda

Colonies:
1 Brachymyrmex patagonicus
1 Pheidole soritis
1 Tapinoma sessile

The difference between a hobby and a scientific pursuit, is detailed notes.

Ok Thanks a lot :D I was trying to see what ants were around my area because they weren't too well known.
