hello,
found this (i hope it is one) queen ant today at around 3 pm. i'm located in western europe, austria.
it is 11mm in length, pretty bright brown/red. the gaster is shiny and has stripes of darker brown. it looks much like that of a wasp, just of a different color. the thorax is more matte than the gaster. the part between thorax and gaster is quite long and has two nodes.
tell me if i missed any important information. also let me know if the pics don't cut the mustard. i could do better tomorrow and in daylight.

that's what i concluded after some more research. compairing the queen to some pictures i found, i'm fairly certain it is manica rubida. i'd like to try - any advice from someone who had experiences with them?
