hello all!

this is my first post on this forum. just recently started taking an interest in ants. happy to tell you all that this is my first ever found queen.
i found it a couple of days ago on asphalt, near a meadow. located in western europe, more specifically austria, close to switzerland. its mostly black, with a light brown/yellow shine on its underside and legs. i'm thinking lasius, but it seems skinny for a niger. its length is 8mm. what do you think?

tell me if i forgot important information.

thank you! hmm, would that mean i would have to give it workers from another colony to get her to lay eggs? is it possible to do it? as far as i know its possible the workers kill the queen. is anyone else of this opinion? since you're not completely sure.

I think you cant give workers imidiatly to the queen because she will surely kill them!
You have to brood bost her whith pupae from other lasius sp!
But keep in mind that im not completly sure that it is a lasius social parasite,

If you enjoy my expertise and identifications, please do not put wild populations at risk of disease by releasing pet colonies. We are responsible to give our pets the best care we can manage for the rest of their lives.
