All found in Slovenia/Central Europe

1.9 cm - Black head and thorax - Dark red abdomen
Found in early August in a mountainous region (Trenta).
The species also has large soldiers with smaller workers.

Found in mid July in more of a dry region (Karst-Kras).
Perhaps more of a flat surface on the top part of the thorax.

Found in April in the city (Ljubljana)
Queen and workers don't seem to be attracted to honey and insects as other species do.

One of the last two black queens is probably Lasius Niger but I don't think both are.
Please help & thanks.

Unfamiliar with the ants in your area, but I'll give my guesses.

1. Camponotus ligniperda

2. Unsure / Lasius Sp.

3. Unsure / Lasius Sp. / Feel like I've seen this species before but can't find it again. :(

4. Unsure / Lasius Sp. / Formica Sp.

5. Measurements? / Lasius niger

To me most look Lasius, hopefully someone else recognizes these,

The third appears to be Prenolepis nitens
An ants' strength can be rivaled by few animals compared to relative body size.

I thought it looked like Prenolepis, specially the workers, I guess caught in April makes sense too. :o
