Anyone know what species and possibly caste this is?

I recently found this ant in my yard, it appears to be a formica species, but it was found in august and it seems to have wing scars. it is about a centimetre long.
heres a link to the picture. if it is unclear, then i will post another one.

The Gaster seems a little small for a camponotus (carpenter ant) queen.

Looks like a queen, but this picture won't do for an ID.
