Lasius niger is so rare in North America that ant keepers never find them, according to Batspiderfish. The queen you have is probably Lasius americanus, which somewhat resembles Lasius niger.

I’ve been reviewing this species, my queen is very black, antmaps says there are lasius Nigerian Texas. Are u sure? Could be a Tapinoma?

Can you take as close of a picture that your camera can manage with more light? It's difficult to tell a lot of the non-common genera without size and hair reflecting light. I personally am not comfortable taking a guess with what I see, though my posts on this bored are always guesses anyways. :lol:

I'd still guess Lasius Sp. based on what I see, but it also does look like she could be Tapinoma

EDIT: Measure her as well. :P

Stick a ruler or measuring tape next too her when you do, if possible

lasius niger is a common black garden ant lol, i have 18, all confirmed lasius niger. i live in canada
