Hello All! I need help identifying this queen. found her in Chandler Arizona 3 days ago after sundown. She is 3-4mm in length and dark colored that looks deep red when a flashlight is on her. There was a male still on her and he was a reddish amber color and about 1mm in length with a dark gastor.

I'd guess Lasius Sp. not sure which. Looks a little like Lasius Niger with her a lot in her gaster.

I'd wait for more replies.

Way too small for Lasius niger but i do agree that it is probably a Lasius sp.
First year of antkeeping, already enjoying it!

Currently founding:

Lasius niger
Lasius umbratus
Lasius flavus

Still hoping to find a Formica queen.

Your first two pictures and first two pictures of your second post MIGHT be Brachymyrmex Sp.. They're VERY small and can hold impressive amounts of liquid in their gasters per their size, specially the workers. She looks a little darker though.

The seventh and eighth pictures of your newest post almost looks like Pogonomyrmex Sp. (semi claustral). Get her an outworld ASAP

I don't know about the others without measurement or more info, the redish ants of your newest post all look similar minus the fact of the two spines on the thorax, they seem to disappear in other pictures, or maybe those are other ants . Maybe by looking into Havester ants you can determine yourself if she is in fact Pogonomyrmex.

After taking your sugestions and doing some more researching, I am pretty sure I got myself a honey pot , a couple novomessor (long leggy dark ones with longer spines), some Pogonomyrmex Rugosus and then the littles Brachymyrmex that I can't get a good pic of even with the macro lens. :(

Thank you all for the info!
