Hey guys!
So the weather finally decided to help out and i was able to catch two new queens today
Both were caught at a sandy open spot in the forest on a hill late in the morning.
The first queen is a good 10-11mm long, and quite agile. Personally i think it's Formica fusca but any confirmation (or not) would be nice
The second queen is about 5-6mm and was pretty agressive when i tried catching her! As far as i'm able to tell she is probably Myrmica ruginodis or M. rubra but i'm a lot less certain about this one so again... any help is welcome.

Thank you!

I would say so. The second is identical to the two Myrmica Rubra queens I have. (Remember that Myrmica Rubra is semi-claustral.)
Ant-keeper going into his 4th year of loving ants!

Thanks! Yes i have her test tube in a container that functions as an outworld so she can forage outside (which she is quite actively doing as well) Thanks for the reminder*** SPAM *** wrote: ↑Mon Aug 13, 2018 9:10 amI would say so. Formica requires photographs of the gaster showing off hair coverage of each tergite.
Myrmica generally requires microscopic examination, so you will almost never get an ID through photographs over the internet.

I might attempt another picture of the Formica further on down the line but for now i'm leaving her be... I found her in an area filled with F. fusca nests so for now i'm just assuming she is as well
