Is this a queen? If so what type? - Northern Nevada
I found this ant today and im pretty sure its a queen ant I just don't know what type.
Found at 5:45 PM PDT in Carson City, Nevada.
Length: I've no idea I didn't know ant could BE this big. (I have a comparison photo with my queen pavement ant you guys ID'd for me)
Color: She (or he idk if I even caught a queen) looked black and red but with a light the "red" parts seem almost yellow.
Size comparison with my queen pavement ant you guys ID'd for me.
These photos are listed by order (by the last photo you see it only has 1 wing left)

2 more size comparisons with my pavement ant queen (and she? shed the last wing in the testtube, do I need to clean it up?)
(need ID on the giant ant) also getting that monster of a thing in the test tube was probably the scariest thing ive ever done. O.O

A Camponotus sp. queen from a species group that is difficult to identify without formidable macro work.

Closest thing I had to a macro lens was a magnifying glass so I hope this helps!

Camponotus sansabeanus/Camponotus semitestaceus that's my best guess. That camera is very good I wish I had one.
As always, wishing you well on your exciting ant adventure, Ants the Lowcountry.
