I'd say Formica fusca, but not 100% sure on that. What size is the queen?
First year of antkeeping, already enjoying it!
Currently founding:
Lasius niger
Lasius umbratus
Lasius flavus
Still hoping to find a Formica queen.

I agree with Formica Fusca.
An ants' strength can be rivaled by few animals compared to relative body size.

Re: Need help identifying an Ant Queen
Hello,
This is what I have so far, I will try to take more better ones.

The Queen is about 10 mm/ 0.4 inch. I caught her about a month ago on the Bulgarian coast, there where lots of ant queens dead in the water, but she was lucky and landed on my backpack, I was lucky to have some plastic test-tubes with me.
Thanks

And another question, their gaster will expand when they eat?
Thanks

Re: Need help identifying an Ant Queen
Yea i'm still going with Formica fusca.
And yes, their gasters can be used as food storage so you will often see it expand when they have eaten. The queens gaster will also expand as the colony matures and she starts laying more eggs
