I was going to get a cheap macro lens from walmart today but they were sold out. All they had were telephoto lenses.

I don't think the first one is Lasius at all. Could you try to get better pictures? The pictures are of too poor quality for me to get a solid ID.

Bumping this post to see if anyone else can Id the last picture. Am kind of leaning towards it being a male Camponotus but not sure.

Well I checked on thsee today and all of them are deceased . Oh well time to clean out those test tubes and find replacements.

Still not positive they were queens, still have 4 fire ant queens, and 2 different Camponotos queens so definitely still in the hobby, hoping to get a few more Campo queend.

I agree, I'm in Alabama also and the most common species of Solenopsis is Invicta.

Caught two more queens like the three that died, still thinking they may be males. If anyone has a clue what they are please let me know. It is the last series of pictures posted.

I am starting to think the unidentifiable queens is a Camponotus castaneus or Camponotus americanus male.
