Yeah that's the plan, i do a daily walk every afternoon after work so now I take 2-4 test tubes with me just in case

I'd like to get more as while my current queen is laying eggs (8-10 thus far) there is no telling how that will go, if I end up with a few tube colonies that are going well I may give them away to local guys looking to get into the hobby
if you take a daily walk you should not miss any major nuptial flights. If you catch too many queen ants you could join the gan project to sell your ants. https://www.AntsCanada.com/queen-ants-for-sale/

Selling them sounds good, i wouldn't mind helping out people that aren't able to go hunting like I can though :P

How much luck have you guys had with Nuptial flights?
I emailed a local Myrmecologist or whatever you call them about nuptial flights in my region. He said he finds lots of queens in march/April in my region which is helpful.

one of my friends told me about him. You could possibly look them up on the csiro website.

I have caught a lot of polyrachis hookeri queens by moving around leaflitter, maybe that works for other species

Hey I’m in NSW and I just started. It is nearly September. September will be really exciting as the r.Metallica, I.bickenilli and the P.ammon will be flying! Really looking forward to joining the anting community in Australia. Last time, I caught an r.Metallica but I figured out it was a male.
