RIP the first queen I ever caught!

:( I just started ant keeping this year and caught 10 queens, the first one I caught, i tucked away in a dark place to found her colony, and she ran out of water, I was never there to giver her anymore and just discovered her :( good thing I caught a bunch!!!
Founding:
-3 tetramorium queens
-1 Formica queen
-4 groups of acorn ant queens (they're polygenous)
Super excited to start this amazing hobby :D

To avoid something like this, it's best to check once per week on your queens. Maybe twice if you really want to keep track but not disturb them too much.
It is a learning experience and you will know it for the next time. ;)
Doing some proper research is the best way to start an antcolony.
