Checked on my Tetramorium queens today. Found that one of them had died, and had a light layer of cotton wrapped around her. Found that she had 10 nanitics that I had overlooked and a ton of brood. Bummer knowing that she was doing so well, yet perished nonetheless. I wonder what did her in? Anyone have any ideas what to do with these nanitics, besides tossing them out?

Try merging them with the other colony. The brood at least will be accepted. I've had it work before with a queen that died.

I know, right? Here is a photo of the nanitics of a dead queen that were accepted by the new queen and her nanitics. The dead queens nanitics are smaller and lighter colored. I just taped the two test tubes together. Fuzzy photo I know. Tetramorium battle to the death normally so maybe nanitics behave differently?
