My brown carpenter ant queen died during the day, early in the morning she was happy and running around, in the afternoon I checked on her and she was dead, her abdomen was full of honey, is that normal?

Is it possible there were (traces of) pesticides in the honey? How old was the queen?

The queen was probably looking for a place to put her nest, and I don’t think the honey had pesticides, (unless Costco is lying to me).

She could have been infertile who knows. Some ants simply don't do well in captivity and even in the wild some die in their claustral chamber. Nobody really understands why.
