I’m pretty sure it’ll be good to eat, you just have to see what kind of food your ants like. In general though, fresh food is better than frozen.

currently, I have a Mealworm farm for my ants, but I used to just go into my garden and catch bettles. Make sure you kill any fresh insects/protein quickly, as it's the most humane thing to do.

it is not advised to catch wild insects. i once had a 11 worker camponotus colony and one fly left only the queen alive

Agreed. Freeze dried food is not as nutrient rich as fresh food.
