I have a small colony of lasius niger. with the queen and about 50 plus workers and I'm not sure what or how much to feed them. please help

Give them some of each. They will eat what then need. Don't over feed as it could mould.

Yeah, in ant keeping you kind of have to get a feel for how much they can eat at a time by trial and error. Offer them a certain amount and see how much they will eat and if it seems like a lot of workers are still foraging in the outworld after they have eaten what you have offered, go ahead and increase the food amount.

The only thing is you don't want food to be sitting around for very long especially if they are bringing pieces of food in their formicarium and leaving it there to grow copious amounts of mold.
