You know how you describe confusing symptoms to a doctor, and he's like, "A ha! I know the problem?"
The "symptoms" you're describing with your Camponotus colony sounds like a colony that's in the mood for a winter hibernation. It's just a guess, but have you had your colony of 80 ants only this year and you started with just a Queen? They will stop eating protein and larvae will refuse to eclose (turn into cocoons) when the colony is gearing up for a hibernation. It can be annoying if you don't have a way to keep them cool, but hibernation is a biological requirement for many Camponotus species found in Europe/North America. Again, just a guess.
The other thing I can think of is maybe they're just stressed. Sounds like you've made a number of changes to their habitat in a short time. Sometimes, these ants just enjoy being left alone :)
