Here I will show you how to find beetle grubs in your back yard. The best time of year in my opinion to look for beetle grubs is Fall and Winter.
Step 1 grab a small shovel and dig in a place in your backyard which has no plants or has dead plants.
Step 2 dig until you find beetle grubs (Note Beetle grubs can be very deep),
Step 3 feed to ants.
Step 4 Done!
Currently Founding...
Carpenter Ant Queen (Camponotus Pennsylvanicus)6-9 Eggs, 2-3 larva, and 6-10 Workers

I might need to give it a try this year then but I doubt that I will find a good spot ^^
Doing some proper research is the best way to start an antcolony.

Just be careful, they could have pesticides in them.
My current colonies:
-Miniature Military(formica neogagates)
-Black Hearts(crematogaster cerasi)
In search of new camponotus colony
[Have a look at antmaps.org]
