Do ants eat dried mealworms?
I am asking this question because my parents would absolutely not appreciate me having a live worm farm in my house. Do they eat pre killed dried mealworms? Of not is their a way to make them like it( like if i put some water the worm will be little moist and easier to eat)

Re: Do ants eat dried mealworms?
Ants generally don't touch dry food. Try making a worm farm outside as ants usually only eat freshly killed insects.

all my queens died
got a sugar ant colony started

Re: Do ants eat dried mealworms?
I fed my ants freeze dried food for a while and they would eat it. However it should be noted that the colony needs lots of larvae to do this, so If I were using dry food, I would add some water first

Oh kay thanks. I'm asking this because my parents would not allow live worms in my house and the only purpose is to brutally kill them. My colony is not that big to eat mealworms. They are 33 workers and eat small isopods and flies and don't forage for like two days

Yeah, mine were the same. They finally let me keep some mealworms and I had a good farm going, but I eventually changed to the freeze-dried option because I didn't want to worry about the mess the worms made when uneaten by the ants.
