I have a Crematogaster colony, I read that they eat mostly fruits and plants, with some feeder insects.
Is this right?
Can they eat grains as well?
What do I feed my ants?

All colony's are different, experiment and see what happens
With all the things ants can do, you wonder, who rules the planet

A lot of myrmicines can eat breads and seeds, unlike most of the other subfamilies.
If you enjoy my expertise and identifications, please do not put wild populations at risk of disease by releasing pet colonies. We are responsible to give our pets the best care we can manage for the rest of their lives.
Re: What do I feed my ants?
Some fruits will work, as well as honey and sugar water, and possibly maple syrup. Ants get their energy from sugars (fruits, honey, etc.), while ant larvae need protein (feeder insects and with some species meat) to grow. Ant colonies need both sugars and protein to survive and grow.LukeTheGreat wrote:I have a Crematogaster colony, I read that they eat mostly fruits and plants, with some feeder insects.
