Hey peeps,
I have some red harvester ant queens (I believe they're
Pogonomyrmex Barbatus). Of course I know they'll eat sweets and insects but I read the seeds are pretty important for their diet. I plan on collecting some local seeds to see what they like but do any of you have experience with specific seeds or foods they like?
If I dont collect enough seeds before winter what type should I buy from the store?
Thanks!

Re: Red harvester ant diet
I don't exactly know what seeds they like but i would try some of the seeds used in cooking first because they might be easier to get. Also i think they like to collect tons of seeds mosly around fall because they are used in the winter. I also would like to point you toward the forum formiculture. The owner drew has several very long and popular journals in the journal sections on pogonomermex and he has tested several seed types. I suddgest reading those. I know it's a diffrent forum and i like this one the most but hey knowlege is knowlege.
