That is a really good design idea! May try something like this too. Most of my ants are in AC setups so I may add the heat cable to them and try this with the smaller colonies. :D

Oh and BTW I have a pretty big C.chromaiodes colony I feed protien everyday and sugar as the Honey I give is depleted.
smaller colonies get every other day or three. :)

I'm glad you like it. It will surely make a difference for their growth rate. :)

That's nice, thanks! :D
Out of curiosity though... how big is the Camponotus colony in numbers (approximately), and how long have you been keeping it?
Keeping the following colonies:
  • [2x] Camponotus Barbaricus
  • [2x] Lasius Flavus

Only since 4/23 so I'm very new to this. :) You can see the colony in my post Here:

Sorry for the late response.
I've never seen a Camponotus colony that big! Wow! It must be challenging for a beginner, but good luck! ;)

Thank you! It's a very cool colony and sar far not real difficult at all. I counted ants in pics today and there are more than 500 workers but the amount of brood is mind boggling. There is gonna be a population explosion really soon! :)
