A discussion on feeding ants protein in liquid form

I had a thought – an experimentation task if you will - near the end of last ant season and have spent the better part of my hobby time over the past few months perusing all that google, and public literature had to offer on the subject.

As such I now know there are varied and fervent opinions on the controversial subject of “liquid protein”. I’d love to hear the anecdotal evidence from you the myrmecological hobbyist about what you’ve tried, how you’ve failed – or succeeded, with which species.

I've had a colony of Lasius Niger for around 6 months now, and I knew from the beginning I WASN'T going to feed them bugs. So I've fed them protein syrup and they're doing great.
Hope this helps!

Commercial protein syrup or something homemade?

If commercial can you share brand and store.

I purchased it from Anthouse: https://www.anthouse.es/en/comida-para-hormigas/224-10ml-protein-syrup-for-queens-and-young-colonies-food-anthouse.html

It's from Spain though, but mine only took around a week.

Thank you! I'll have to look into it.

You know I thought given how contentious and controversial other threads on this have gotten, I was expecting a more numerous response.

I mean technically most ants do eat mainly liquid protein in the form of hemolymph (insect-blood). some stages of larvae are able to digest solids but most ants live off of liquids.
