Sugar Water Test Tubes

Hello. This is going to seem like a weird question, but I have a test tube filled with sugar water and I have noticed over time that some of the cotton in the tube is coming off and floating in the water. Should sugar water best be served in a tray or could this just be something normal?

Thanks for reading and have a nice day.

Its fine :)
Proverbs 6:6-8

Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.

Sounds like just some loose cotton drifting off. Shouldn’t hurt anything.

Give fresh sugar water in small doses unless the colony is very large and drinks it quickly -- otherwise it will just ferment or feed microorganisms, which is what I suspect the cotton-y material would be.
If you enjoy my expertise and identifications, please do not put wild populations at risk of disease by releasing pet colonies. We are responsible to give our pets the best care we can manage for the rest of their lives.

Most likely not cotton, but mold. sugar water molds very quickly. It shows up as a whitish, stringy, semi translucent substance
