Re: Natural soil nest
I am curently keeping a myrmica rubra colony in a natural nest. From what i know they like their nest to be from 50% to 80% moist. I keep mine at about 60-65% and they are feeling ok. However it depends on the conditions how often you need to moist their soil. And if the nest is natural, it's size doesn't matter to much because the ants will dig the tunnels as big or little as they like. The species is easy to keep. My colony has about 1000 ants and they eat just about everythink i give them. I feed them with meal worms and crickets and honeywater or even a little bit of chocolate. They accept jelly and crumbled nuts.
