Did I do the right thing?
My first camponotus queen has successfully raised her first worker and more are on the way so I got excited and put their test tube setup into a plastic bin for them to forage but now I'm afraid I acted too quickly (I mean she only has one worker)so can someone please help me out?

It's fine. You can add some food (tiny drop of sugar water and a fruit fly), they will probably stay in the nest until more workers arrive though. Also when a worker comes out to forage it will probably be during night (when it's dark).

Did you have a barrier at the top of your container ? Your queen should be fine if she had other pupae . Just make sure that the container your using for your outworld has a barrier that way other workers don't escape .Proverbs66 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2017 9:10 amI really need help this is my first queen really don't want to mess things up

I did have a barrier but it disappeared anyway maybe I should just get a test tube portal and use that instead what do you think?Nj6000 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 02, 2017 2:17 pmDid you have a barrier at the top of ypour container ? I don't know . I just started ant keeping . But I guess you could try the test tube portal .
Re: Did I do the right thing?
The test tube portal would be the easiest, but you should investigate why the barrier did not work. What did you use?

I used a plastic bin and put the test tube setup inside I also put a lid on the container and poked very small holes in it then placed dead crickets with honey in the setup as well and for the barrier I used baby powder and alcohol and applied generously am I missing something?

It doesn't seem like it, but maybe there was not enough baby powder applied? Not sure.
