Can I just use clay to shape a whole nest and use plastic or glass on top? I cannot find AAC or plaster at Ipoh, Malaysia.
I guess you could try, it would be interesting to see how it turned out.
Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?
There are so many fascinating ants right where you live!
I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that aren't in your area.

Can I use polystyrene? I tried taking a large piece of polystyrene and carving out chambers that are not that high. Then I will put them face down in the container and add clay to hold it. But is polystyrene a good material? I can't find AAC or Ytong or Plaster anywhere.

Hmm, I've never heard of it.

I found some polystyrene and carved it using a toothpick. It was hard as you could not get a smooth surface as the material is literally hundreds of tiny plastic balls. The sides also very bumpy with a lot of balls as it is Polystyrene
No ants to put inside yet but if I can put the nest upside down or on the side of the container and hold it with clay, it may work. But the hydration is quite bad. The Polystyrene cannot soak water.

I found some article (wikiHow) saying that I can replace Plaster of Paris with 'a mixture of flour and water' or 'a mixture of water and white glue'. I have no flour right now but maybe I can try it out.

Can some of you try it out to make a nest? I can't find any flour right now. If you do do the 'flour and water' plaster replacement than please let me know the results! Thanks!

I haven't read the article or try it myself but hearing it, i am assuming using any sort of flour and mixing it with water? It will get solid after drying but the ants would easily be able to chew through it and anytime you hydrate it it will get wet and deform plus it can easily get moldy.
So I don't think the flour nest is really going to work
Ants I have-
camponotus compressus colony- the shadow warriors.
Pls just let me have a tetramorium colony
