Look closely, and if you see wing scars, that means that it is indeed a queen. I've heard that if a queen licks the tip of her gaster, then she is fertilized. It might take a while for her to lay eggs, I captured a lasius neoniger queen a couple weeks ago, and she still hasn't layed eggs.
Overall, according to all the things you have said about your new queen, it seems that you have a fertilized queen that should eventually lay eggs.

P.S. I didn't get to look at the picture because it was blocked so I don't know what she looks like.

It is a Camponotus sp. queen.
Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?
There are so many fascinating ants right where you live!
I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that aren't in your area.

I think all ants do. But I think the queens do it more.
