Need Help with set up

Post: # 83908Post Garreth

Hi all, i am new to the hobby so i think i made a new boy mistake and moved my ants into a nest too big for them, i have a tiny colony of carpenter ants and they were pulling at their cotten wool even after being fed, so i conected them to a small next set up with a tiny out world, now the queen is not staying still and is always moving around, i left the opening to the test tube small so she didnt have to leave but she did right away and moved into the nest, im afraid there are too few workers for the nest and the queen isnt picking a founding chamber to stay in.
sorry for the long post but a bit panicked.
i am unable to attach an image for some reason so idk

How many workers does the colony have? You can post images with a link from https://imgur.com/.
My current colonies:
-Miniature Military(formica neogagates)
-Black Hearts(crematogaster cerasi)
In search of new camponotus colony

the queen has around 7-8 workers, and no matter how much light i give, they dont want to move back to the dark test tube. they have found a tight small chamber in the farm and seem to have made their nest there

Well the nest is deffinetly too big for them but they will deffinetly survive, but they might put garbage in the nest witch could cause some mold but other than that there is not mutch to worry about.

yeah when they started pulling at the cotton i got worried and i just went bit crazy adding the farm parts, as long as they survive, there are 4 more workers very close to arriving so i guess it wont be too big for long

Well its normal for a queen not to lay eggs somethimes, you don't need to move them but you can if you want.
