This is my first year ant keeping, and I've been incredibly lucky with the ants I caught this year all in my back yard in Rhode Island.
The very first ant queen I caught was a huge Carpenter ant. Sadly, it died... probably because I looked at it every day.
I only caught one other one, and I give her plenty of relaxing time alone.
I checked her this evening and took advantage to take a photo so that I can admire her and her eggs all week long. And to share with you all.
I am 95% sure this is a Carpenter Ant because of the size, but I haven't shared a photo of her before.
