Ants using new formicarium as trash room
Hello so my camponotus colony has gained quite a few workers and since they are a larger kind it's getting a bit tight for the brood and ants in a test tube. I've hooked it up to a new more proper formicarium they haven't moved in yet but instead are just puting insect parts that they've already eaten inside. is this a good thing? Are they planning to move soon or are they just calling that part a waste area of the nest. If anyone can let me know what to do then I would be happy since I don't want the colony to live in a test tube forever.

That usually means the formicarium is too big, though when the colony get bigger, they will eventually move it outside. Do keep an eye for mold in there.
