I just purchased a queen carpenter ant that is about 3/4” long. She can turn around in a tube that is a smidge larger than 3/4”. I’m having a frame made for me to hang the colony on the wall, and I’ll attach a habitat. What distance do I need between the panes of glass for the queen to be comfortable turning around?

At least 3/4 her length. Make sure its not too wide though as ants prefer tight spaces!
