hi everyone,
so earlier today I got a heating cable for my hybrid nest mini. but then wondered, how hot should it be? I got a 15 watt cable and I am not sure if that is good enough. do I even need a cable? what if it melts the plastic?
thanks in advance

It should be somewhat warm (5°to 8°degrees)
My current colonies:
-Miniature Military(formica neogagates)
-Black Hearts(crematogaster cerasi)
In search of new camponotus colony

The 15watt cable should be fine. I use the zoo med one. If your ants are in hibernation they do not require heating. Only put the cable through the slot on the nest, to allow for a heat gradient. If your room temperature is above 20c when the ants are not in hibernation, you wont need the cable.
