Odd Liquid in side Ant Home

Hello everyone,

A colony I have moved itself into a new area I setup for them. They moved pretty quickly actually, just a few days! They seem to like it well enough. I have since removed their old nesting area as it was completely abandoned and needed to be cleaned anyway.

This is my first 3d printed nest. I've included a photo (see link below) Sorry for the distortion in the middle of the image. I had some annoying lights above and just quickly removed the light via photoshop, but in the process blurred the middle pretty bad.

Notice the red arrows, pointing at puddles of some liquid. I don't think this is water.. I have left this particular ant nest for weeks, fully hydrated, to see how it would work, if it would hold water without leaking, etc. It seemed fine for a very long time. Now, one day after the ants move in, there are puddles.

Two thoughts..
1) Some ants will have secretions when annoyed... that might not soak into the plastic... not good
2) Are the ants urinating in their house...?

In the future I will be putting a layer of sand on the bottom of these things. I'll have to make up a new one, attach it as an option for this colony and see if they like it better. However, that'd not be a solution, over time this junk will fill up their home.

Any thoughts on what this is?

first of all I'm pretty sure ants don't urinate. It just looks like water to me, the ants might be putting water there somehow.
