Green Tree Ant Help!

Post: # 66615Post ShadowNova

Hi,
I'm just about to recieve a Green Tree Ant Queen and am wondering what small large leafed plants would be ideal for this species. I live in Australia, so any plants that are available there would be preferable. Also as the founding stage might be different to other ant species, any tips in caring for Green Tree Ants would be great.

Cheers, ShadowNova

depending on the size of your setup 2-3 small schefflera plants or some small Ixora Javanica *might* do good. try go for plants with lots of large/medium leaves. A plant they seem to love in the wild is the beauty leaf tree.

from what i have heard the Queens are semi clustrial.

I've since done some research and will probably try getting a citrus tree sapling, as the beauty leaf tree is harder to find. Hopefully they'll accept the tree. As I've never looked after this species, during the founding stage would it be best to leave her in a smaller setup until she has 25+ workers? Will a test tube setup to begin with be enough due to being an arboreal species? Thanks for the help.
