Myrmecia Nigrocincta Formicarium/Setup Help

Hello fellow Ant Keepers,
I've only just a few weeks ago gotten a queen Myrmecia nigrocincta, she has started to lay eggs about a week and a half ago. However, I'm not experienced/knowledgable in this ant species on what would be the best setup. Does anyone have any recommendations on what formicariums or any other items I should get for the setup?

hi friend so trying one's had at bull ants fair play mate, first off don't get stung by them some say it's as painful as the famous bullet ant, going to link 2 vid's one is from a keeper and the other is from a mad man

Yeah, I've heard they can have a nasty sting, however this species seems more curious than aggressive if anything. They seem more concerned looking after the eggs than taking notice of me. However, I'm not entirely sure what size of Formicarium I should get them as they are a large ant; or if the actual material the Formicarium is made of is important?

indeed very inquisitive they have very good eye sight as well, the keeper in the vid has his in a ytong nest and mentions they need sand in the nest as the larva use it to help them spin a cocoon

Thank you for the recommendations , I've started looking at the ytong nests. Although, the guy in the video has his in a small ytong nest, would there be any issues if they were introduced to a medium sized ytong nest or would that stress them. I was just wandering as a larger nest would definitely be of more use for a longer time.

personally i'd go a size or 2 up just so your not swapping nests all the time as they grow, my odontoponera transversa queen has 6" cube to her self with no problems

I'd say it's less about the size and more about the depth. I personally like the Ants Australia gear and i'm pretty sure you can get specially deep nests for the larger species (like Myrmecia Nigrocincta).
You also don't want to provide them with too much space, so i wouldn't overestimate by much.

Hi, Sorry for the late response just been very busy. Thanks for the help, so far my Myrmecia Sp. don't require a nest just quite yet. My Myrmecia Nigrocincta Queen has only a few eggs and 2 larvae currently, but I'm planning on introducing to an appropriate nest soon.
