How to provide ventileation?

How to provide ventileation?
I am making a homemade grout nest and the video I was watching said to hook up an air pump, is there any other way I can provide ventilation?
With all the things ants can do, you wonder, who rules the planet

I watched the next 2 parts...Did Not see an air pump What does she mean? So there is no need for ventilation besides the entrance/exit tube? In the AC nests there is a big mesh piece does it work without that? Thanks!

I watched the video, and I've seen hers before. She makes great tutorials!AntsRule wrote:I watched the next 2 parts...Did Not see an air pump What does she mean? What she is talking about is the tube for the hydration system, she is saying that the tube she used is meant for "air pumps". She is not saying that there is supposed to be an air pump. I was confused for a second as well until i listened to it again, and looked at what she was pointing to. The perlite is meant as an absorbent at the end of the tube for water to hold inside the grout. This will hydrate the inside of the nest without making an escape for the ants.
The only nest ventilation you need is the entrance , yes.

OOOOOOOL Thanks! I am glad, I do not want to have to deal with air pumps.larynx wrote:I watched the video, and I've seen hers before.
