what kind if digging medium would i need for a lasius colony? and what are the ratio for the items needed?
also, i will be keeping my colony in a plastic container, what are the chances of mold, and escapees?

Plain dirt works fine. You could really use whatever, for Lasius aren't picky. Just be sure that there aren't any pesticides or any other ant poisons in it. And all natural organic matter that is moist molds eventually, unless a living organism has mold resistance. So dirt almost always molds. Sand molds too, but at a much, much slower pace. Lasius are actually more accustomed to plain dirt, so I would use it and let them deal with mold outbreaks in their own way.
